U.S. Senators Pen Dear Colleague Letter in Support of the Arts

Posted on: Apr 13, 2018

Following on the heels of the House's "Dear Colleague" letter, which was spearheaded by the late Representative Louise Slaughter and received 166 signatures by House Democrates and Republicans alike in support of the arts, the Senate has also shown overwhemling formal support for the arts. On April 10, 2018, 41 U.S. Senators presented their own "Dear Colleague" letter to the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, and the Chairman of the Interior Appropriations Subcommittee. Their letter requests funding equal or greater to $155 million for the National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities in FY 2019, noting that "the NEA and NEH play a vital role in every state."
