Senate Arts Report Card - David Vitter

David Vitter

Being born in a cultural haven such as New Orleans doesn't necessarily make you an arts supporter. Even with the recovery efforts following Hurricane Katrina focusing on getting people back to New Orleans to see what it does best - music, arts, and culture - Senator David Vitter had this to say about the stimulus funds, which included funding for the National Endowment for the Arts:

"It's just a long list of spending items. Not a real economic stimulus job creation bill. Its line after line after line of favorite liberal spending programs, and it amounts to a big government bill - not a job creation bill."

The almost 29,000 people working in the arts in Louisiana might disagree.
