With over 24,000 arts jobs, the bluegrass state certainly sees a fair amount of revenue from the arts. As someone who mentioned the additional $50 million for the NEA on a list of frivolous expenditures in the recent stimulus bill, it’s odd that Senator Mitch McConnell recently visited the National Quilt Museum in Kentucky - a museum which he and U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield “were instrumental in obtaining the designation” for, and one that receives NEA support. Arts supporters around the country would love to see McConnell’s record for the arts and arts education match his enthusiasm for supporting museums like the National Quilt Museum.
